A MAN who fell while walking near Knighton has thanked the people who got him to hospital and back on his feet.
John Bradford, of Redditch, injured his foot on Wernygeufron Hill late last month.
The 76-year-old, who was researching for a book on the Shrophire hills, called 999 from a mobile phone but when they called back to locate him he did not know how to answer it.
Fortunately, he was found and a farmer used a quad bike to get him from the hill to the Midlands Air Ambulance which took him to Hereford County Hospital.
“It was quite a remote spot,” said his wife Anne, who now plans to raise money for the air ambulance.
“No-one knew where he was and he had walked some way from the car so had they not found him he could have been there for a day or more.”
John, who is now recovering at home, has previously written books on the River Teme and the Malvern Hills.
