ABOUT a year ago we in Pontrilas had a little local difficulty with our Post Office which nearly resulted in the loss of our postmaster, the shop he runs with his family team and the sorting office.
During the election campaign some of the more cynical among us thought this would be the last time we would see our representative in the corridors of power.
But no, Jesse Norman MP heard of the plight of Nigel Corner at Pontrilas Post Office, left his party conference at speed, took up Nigel’s case (as reported in the Hereford Times), spoke of Pontrilas Post Office in the House of Commons and made representations at the highest level.
The upshot is, thanks to Jesse, we still have Nigel doing what he does best, running his Post Office and village shop, open all hours diligently serving his community.
I among many are grateful to you both for your effort.
BILL QUAN, Pontrilas.
