I WRITE with reference to the letter from Graham Walker complaining about entertaining French visitors in Leominster.
Mr Walker should realise that the essence of town twinning is friendship across national boundaries, inviting families into your home and showing off your town and countryside with pride.
Twinning is open to all who are interested.
Leominster Twinning Association receives no funding fromthe town council, Herefordshire Council or the EU.
When we host the dinner for our guests fromSaverne we, the members, pay fromfund-raising events that go on throughout the year and we have to budget very carefully.
Over the last 18 years the Twinning Association has used every suitable venue in Leominster. I was surprised that Mr Walker didn’t complain last time we visited Cadmore Lodge.
I notice that we received no praise in 2008 for our dinner at the Royal British Legion in Leominster, an excellent venue that made for a memorable evening.
CHRIS HINSLEY, Chairman, Leominster Saverne Twinning Association.
