YOU very kindly published my letter outlining the need for our local Hereford charity, Hope Carriers Trust of 25 Mill Street, Hereford, to raise £60,000 so that the large property in Romania that forms the hub for their work there could be bought outright.
It would then be secure and would save £7,000 a year in rent.
I mistakenly thought that in a city like Hereford and all the other places where your excellent paper is read, it could easily raise £60,000.
How wrong I was.The money received so far as a result of my pleas has been a total of £40, from three individuals.
I am very disappointed at the lack of generosity in the area and feel sad to be living among such a parsimonious population.
Already, just a few individuals connected with the trust have given over £20,000 so only £40,000 is outstanding. Come on Hereford, surely there must be some people not sitting on their hands or cheque books? Help us to find the rest.
