REGARDING the article recalling English bareknuckle boxing champion Tom Spring from Fownhope (Hereford Times, October 1) local resident John Harrison took me to the memorial on the outskirts of the village.
John and I gave the memorial a quick tidy up, with the removal of grass and weeds.
The words on the stone relate to where and when he was born and died. On the other side are names of the memorial committee who unveiled the stone in 1954.
