Anna Coda (Hereford Times, June 17) has pointed out that the Government has cut funding for local services in the past 10 years from £60 million to £600,000.
Local services funded nationally include the NHS.
I have relied on the local surgery and A&E to save my life on two occasions in the last year.
Funding cuts to the NHS has revealed that the NHS was not prepared for the pandemic because the Government was not prepared, even though a health emergency such as a pandemic was in the top tier of risks to the country's security.
The Government has had billions of pounds to fund a 40 per cent increase in its nuclear warhead stockpile, even though a nuclear attack is not a tier one risk to the country's security.
I think most of us would agree that rather than funding weapons of mass destruction, the money would be better spent on training, recruiting and paying health and care staff to look after us all.
