I was a Londoner while Mr Johnson was its mayor, and was thus subjected to pictures of the now Prime Minister more often than most Herefordians would have been exposed to, including one of Boris Johnson cycling while on his mobile phone.

Thus I found the Hereford Times headline for Thursday, August 13, “What Boris told Herefordshire … Not all cyclists are Lycra louts” rather amusing.

He seems to have become more car-dependent since he became an MP and later PM, and thus maybe more keen on “projects such as the Hereford bypass,” even while car emissions make Climate Catastrophe ‘tipping point’ temperatures more likely and his father opposes cash-guzzling HS2 that has a green light from current Tory government.

In conclusion, I would argue that the image of the PM cycling — or maybe driving a juggernaut! — while on a mobile phone is a fitting metaphor for his performance along the road to Climate Catastrophe?
