AFTER reading the story concerning double-yolked eggs (Incredible haul of double-yolk eggs, Hereford Times, August 20), I felt absolutely compelled to write concerning my own experiences whilst in the RAF in Longside, Aberdeen- shire, around 1971.
My former wife and I used to call weekly on a Scottish farmer. We always purchased a dozen eggs. Over a period of four months we came across around 10 double-yolked eggs, five or six triple yolkers, and two eggs with four yolks.
When we spoke to the farmer he expressed no great surprise. The eggs were always fresh and tasted excellent.
We even had two eggs in one; ie shell, white, another shell and a single yolk in the middle.
Until I read the story in the Hereford Times I had no great notion that this was so unusual.
I’m 77 now, so the eggs must have done me good.
