I AM pleased that your correspondent liked the commemorative bench outside the Volunteer Inn looking towards Hereford’s Suvla Barracks (Seats area ideal tribute, Letters, June 4).
Although the Light Infantry Museum helped to organise this, it was ordered and paid for by the city council. We have also put these benches into Grandstand Road recreation ground, Belmont Country Park, Bishop’s Meadow, on the south bank of the river looking towards the rowing club and by the woodpecker sculpture in Whitecross Road.
We have had a lot of positive comments about the benches and if anyone would like to suggest a location for one they can contact their city councillor with their ideas.
STEVE KERRY Town Clerk, Town Hall, St Owen Street, Hereford
