I’VE added my support, via the Hereford Times online poll, for continued public ownership of the NHS.
Recently, I had a serious health scare following a scan at Hereford County Hospital. It would have ruined my family’s Christmas and new year, had it not been for the support of GPs at Hereford's Cantilupe Surgery and hospital staff, who have been wonderful and pulled out all stops for me to be seen and have further tests promptly.
I was little when the NHS came into being. It saved my life when I was three when I had the most dangerous type of pneumonia.
So many family members and friends have benefited from the dedication of doctors, nurses and ancillary staff, many of whom incidentally are from the EU.
I don’t agree that privatisation would improve our NHS – far from it; and I believe that our immigrant medical and care workers do a tremendous job.
