I WAS very disappointed to see planning permission granted for yet another four broiler houses at Penrhos near Kington.
There is already a considerable number of broiler houses in northwest Herefordshire.
I have been a regular cyclist around here for several years and can testify that, as a result of the increase in broiler houses, northwest Herefordshire smells and it is not pleasant. The main cause is the obnoxious odours emitted from the broiler houses over a wide area.
Despite assurances from the industry that modern broiler houses do not smell, they do.
At what point will Herefordshire Council decide that we have enough broiler houses? Do they actually have a policy or plan? Because at the moment one is inclined to ask what sort of environment they are hoping to create?
Certainly not one that has tourism or the the health of its inhabitants at its heart.
