AN ATTACKER has been fined by magistrates after assaulting two women in a Herefordshire town.

Joseph Turner entered guilty pleas to two counts of assault by beating when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in May.

Two counts of intentional strangulation were discontinued at the hearing.

The court heard from prosecutor Paul John that the 34-year-old, who was represented at the hearing by defence solicitor Chris Read, had assaulted two women by beating them in an incident in Leominster on March 26.

Turner, of Bridge Street, Leominster, was fined a total of £441 for the offences, with magistrates saying that they had taken his guilty pleas to the assault charges into account when making their decision.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £135 and a £176 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
