THE biggest fruit mill in Western Europe is about to start pressing in Ledbury.

Universal Beverages are ready to start production at their massive new processing plant in Little Marcle Road.

The firm is spending more than £110million into making the former Robertson’s factory the biggest fruit and cider mill in the UK.

Engineers are making final tests before the facility starts producing concentrates during the coming week.

The plant also boasts eight “apple pits” and will be capable of processing 20,000 tonnes of fruit every week when fully completed.

The plant, which is a joint venture between Universal and the Q Group, could provide up to 300 jobs and will officially open on October 15.
