PREPARATIONS are underway for the seventh Ledbury Community Day.

Organisers are looking for local groups to take part in the traditional celebration, which shows the best face of Ledbury.

Local groups and organisations can meet the public and show what they are all about and what they do.

This year's event will take place on Saturday, June 8.

Paul Kinnaird, a member of the organising committee said, “It’s a great opportunity for groups and organisations to meet people, to tell about the services they offer, to seek volunteers and new members, and to show people how they can help their lives in all kinds of ways from learning and interests to well-being and support.

“For those attending it’s a great way to find out what goes on in Ledbury and what they can be a part of.”

Groups that have taken part in past Community Days include Ledbury Community Brass Band, Ledbury Refugee Support Group, Ledbury Young Farmers, Ledbury Maritime Cadet Unit, the Countryside Restoration Trust, the German Group, Hereford and Ross branches of the Decorative and Fine Art Society, Ledbury and Colwall Children’s Society and many more.

The event will take place again in the Burgage and St Katherine’s Halls, the Community Centre, and other venues and locations in Ledbury.

Last year there were 13 venues in total and a map was produced for the benefit of visitors and local alike.

Mr Kinnaird added: “ Last year eighty different groups and organisations took part in this increasingly popular event.

"The aim of Ledbury Community Day is to provide an opportunity for local groups to show what they do and encourage participation from locals and visitors – a celebration of Ledbury and District’s excellence.”

Invitations have recently been sent out to local groups in Ledbury and the county to take part in the event.

Mr Kinnaird said: “The organisers will be pleased to hear from any groups interested in taking part that they have not been able to contact at info@ledburycommunityday.org.uk – taking part is free.

“The organisers would also be pleased also to hear from anyone who would like to help with the event in planning, organising or stewarding.”
