THE grubbing up of large numbers of apple trees near the Frith Wood has been called "an horrific sight" by a concerned neighbour.
Jim Denning, who lives near the orchards said "a heck of a lot of trees; hundreds of trees, great swathes of trees" had been grubbed up.
Mr Denning added: "It's an horrific sight, with all those dismembered trees".
But he added: "The could just be swopping trees."
The Reporter understands the trees which have been grubbed up are Cox's orange pippins.
The Reporter did phone the landowners, and was told the process was "farming policy".
Apart from that, no comment was forthcoming.
