TWO lanes of the M5 will be closed overnight while resurfacing work is carried out.

The Highways Agency will be resurfacing lane one of the M5 southbound between junctions 7 and 8 this month.

The work, which will also include renewing road markings and studs, will start on Monday and is expected to be completed within a week.

All activity will take place between 8pm and 6am to minimise disruption for road users and while works are under way, lanes one and two of the M5 between junctions 7 and 8 will be closed.

Highways Agency project manager Jessica Kenny said: “This essential work has been carefully planned to be delivered when traffic levels are at their lowest.

“We’ll complete the work as quickly as possible to minimise disruption for motorists. Once complete, the work will mean improved driving conditions.”
