DESPITE thinking that we've got everything we need for Christmas, there can still be something we forget, whether it's to stock up on milk or getting batteries for the little ones' toys.

However, despite the majority of shops being closed on Christmas Day, there will be some in the county that will stay open.

One shop is Green Lane Stores on the corner of Wordsworth Road and Westfaling Street in Hereford.

Beverley Foster, who works at the shop, says that the shop provides a vital service for people on the special day, especially the elderly.

"One of the owners will work in the morning and one in the afternoon," she said.

"We've got a lot of elderly people around here who come in for company.

"They come up every day without fail. They're on their own and we're the only people they see.

Other shops in Hereford that will be open on Christmas Day include the Premier on Cotterell Street.

Its normal opening times on a Monday is 6am to 11pm, and that is set to continue on December 25.
