A FINANCIAL consultant employed by Herefordshire Council has been charged with fraud.

John Wood, from Birch Mews in Leeds, was said by prosecutor Becky Jones to have been taken on by the authority to set up a new computer system.

He is charged with taking £78,000 from the council and £35,000 while working as a project manager in East Anglia.

No pleas were entered when the 58-year-old appeared at Hereford Magistrates’ Court.

The case has been adjourned to a date in December.
