KINGTON continued their fine start in Division 4 of the South Wales Ladies' League with a 3-0 success against Swansea Bay in their first home match.

Player-of-the-match Ruth Betterton opened the scoring for Kington in the first half. Jules Pudge then increased the lead before Bev Hyde slotted home the third following a well-executed short corner.

Good defending from Hannah Davies, Karon Jones and Sian Morgan after the break ensured that Kington had few problems in holding on to their lead.

With the West Clubs' Women's League on their half-term break, Hereford 2nd had the opportunity to slot in a friendly at Gloucester 3rd which brought a 3-2 defeat.

The home side took an early lead when they caught Hereford on the break but some neat play saw Amy Wilkins cross for Emily Tompkins to level the scores.

Following a succession of short corners, Gloucester extended their advantage before the interval and went further ahead early in the second period.

Hereford, however, went on to dominate the remainder of the match but were able to pull back only one goal, when Hayley Longstaff scored with an excellent strike just before the final whistle.
