THE leading holiday and adventure firm PGL, at Ross-on-Wye, will soon be teaching its young clients how to save lives.

The company has linked up with the British Heart Foundation, which has awarded a grant to PGL to buy training mannequins and other equipment as an extension of its nationwide Heartstart campaign.

Trainers at PGL will now be able to teach children from all over the UK vital, emergency life support skills that could one day be used for real.

The skills taught on the Heartstart course include resuscitation, dealing with choking, serious bleeding and helping someone who might be experiencing a heart attack.

Sian Syddall, BHF community fund-raising manager in Herefordshire, said she was delighted PGL had affiliated to Heartstart, teaching young people what to do in an emergency.

"It is vital that members of the public know what procedures to follow in an emergency, as possessing these simple skills really can save lives,''she said.

Sian also urged volunteers to support BHF in Herefordshire, adding it was in urgent need of funds for its life-saving work and wanted more volunteers for a variety of roles in the county.
