CANTER - Organisers of the Credenhill Canter on August 26 had a further meeting to discuss various events around the village including daytime and evening entertainment and a barbecue. Local band Twenty Four Seven is among those supporting the special care baby unit and local church, playing for free. Plans for the canter are on course but more volunteers are needed as marshalls along the route. Any persons or organisations wishing to help by making donations, becoming marshalls, sponsoring runners or taking part in the race or fun run should call 01432 760600 or email credenhillsocialclub @gmx.co.uk.

DRAMA MARATHON - Credenhill-based drama group Magna will be holding a 24- hour fund-raising event from 7.30pm on August 10 at Credenhill Community Centre in aid of St Michael’s Hospice. Individuals and groups will be on stage performing music, dance or theatre for the duration of the event. It will culminate with a performance for the public at 6.30pm on August 11.

Magna have been performing together for more than 30 years and recently won the 2011 best regional drama and panto awards from the National Operatic and Dramatic Association.

The group will take time out from the rehearsal schedule for the autumn show Mandrake to complete the challenge. There will be an opportunity for young people to get involved, in a children’s drama skills workshop from 3.30pm-5.30pm.
