POLICE are driving down LGV crime with a new initiative.

The month-long Operation Colossus was introduced to tackle thefts of lorries, with or without their loads and theft of articulated trailers and loads.

Officers also investigated curtain slashing, where offenders cut open the curtain sided trailer before making off with part or all of the load.

More than 20 people were arrested during the operation, which also investigated theft of high value metals such as copper.
