HELLENS in Much Marcle is the venue next week for a concert of beautiful music for flute and piano.
Sarah Newbold (flute) and Michael Blackmore (piano) will play a varied selection, including Poulenc’s Flute Sonata, Roussel’s Joueurs de flûte, the Fauré Sicilienne and two works by Debussy (his Syrinx for solo flute and Danseuses de Delphes for solo piano).
Also included are an early Mozart sonata, Gluck’s Dance of the Blessed Spirits, and Orphean Escapade and Aubade by Malvern-resident composer Derek Smith.
Sarah Newbold is a renowned flautist who freelances with many major orchestras, and Michael Blackmore has given recitals across Europe and has played in most of the major halls in England.
Music for Flute and Piano is at Hellens, Much Marcle, next Thursday, July 12 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £16 (students £8), including wine and strawberries and cream in the interval.
