SHAKESPEARE’S Globe, in partnership with English Touring Theatre, comes to Malvern Theatres with the award-winning Anne Boleyn.

James Garnon (Anonymous, The Real American: Joe McCarthy) received critical acclaim during both runs in 2010 and 2011 at The Globe and will reprise his role of King James I. Also returning are Julius D’Silva as the scheming Thomas Cromwell and Colin Hurley as Cardinal Wolsey.

Jo Herbert, pictured, takes on the title role, while Henry VIII will be played by new cast member, David Sturzaker (Cool Hand Luke, West End).

Written by Howard Brenton, the play sets out to challenge the traditional assumptions of Anne Boleyn as a pawn manipulated by an ambitious father or as a sexually licentious predator, even a witch. In her place he presents a witty and confident woman with controversial religious ideals, taking on the vicious world of Tudor politics. Anne Boleyn is at Malvern Theatres from Tuesday, April 24 to Saturday, April 28. To book, call the box office on 01684 892277
