TREES - Madley Environmental Centre was lucky enough to receive more than 400 hedging trees from The Woodland Trust, to be planted to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The centre is in the process of enhancing an area of recently leased land for wildlife value and has already sown a threeacre wildflower meadow. Now, thanks to the Woodland Trust, it has planted a 100m hedge. Groups of adults with learning disabilities from the Ryefield Centre in Ross, the Marshfield Centre in Leominster and from Hereford Art College were keen to help plant the trees. The groups worked hard all week, with the final trees being planted by community volunteers living locally to the centre.

The new Jubilee Hedge defines the boundary of the recently leased land and marks the new walkway that visitors will use to enter the Environmental Centre. The next event being held at Madley Environmental Centre is the Easter Eggs-travaganza on Tuesday, from 2pm-4.30pm. This will be a family afternoon with a treasure hunt, tractor-trailer rides, Easter crafts and games. Entrance is £6 for children and £3 for adults which includes lots of chocolate treats, refreshments, materials and all activities. Just turn up on the day.
