THE parent company of two video game stores in Hereford has been placed into administration, sparking heightened job fears.
Troubled Game Group plc, which operates under the Game and Gamestation brands, is reportedly facing debts of £180million.
A total of 6,000 people are employed across the UK, including at stores in High Town and Commercial Street in Hereford.
The company has appointed PriceWaterhouseCoopers to act as administrators.
"This decision is taken after careful consideration and ceaseless interrogation of every possible alternative," the company said in a statement.
"The board would like to thank the teams of GAME and Gamestation colleagues around the world for their exemplary dedication, passion and professionalism."
