THIEVES left a tell-tale trail for police to follow after stealing three tons of wheat from a farm near Upton Bishop.
Officers believe the thieves lost at least a ton of their haul to “spillage” from the trailer hauling it away.
That ton trickled out along rural roads to Marcle Ridge and on into Ross-on-Wye before running out.
The grain store was raided sometime overnight between March 18-19.
Tracks in the remaining wheat show that the thieves backed a trailer into the store having forced their way in through a door.
