Royal Mail has stepped into the row over Hereford Futures’ controversial £20 million link road.
The firm, which has a main delivery office on Station Approach, says it is not prepared to move – something that may have to happen under the current plans – unless the relocation costs them nothing.
Royal Mail Group has said the proposed link road connecting Edgar Street to the top of Commercial Road would effectively sever the centre’s main yard “rendering the delivery office totally inoperable”.
Around 100 delivery vans and some 200 members of staff are based at the site.
Herefordshire Council spokesman John Burnett said the authority had taken into account Royal Mail’s operational needs when planning permission for the road was granted.
