THE romantic age of the steam train will live again in Hereford with the opening of an exhibition of railway art at art360’s Bridge Street gallery.
A Life on the Railways is the work of Hereford resident William Gilmour, who celebrated his 90th birthday last month.
Mr Gilmour left school at 14 and started work as a locomotive engine cleaner in Stirling.
Apart from five years service in the RAF, he spent his entire working life on the footplate of both steam and diesel locomotives.
Mr Gilmour spent his spare time capturing the romance of the steam age in sketches and paintings.
A Life on the Railways runs until Saturday, March 30 at art360 gallery in Bridge Street.
