CONCERT - There will be a St David’s Day concert in the church hall on Saturday at 7.30pm. Organised by Knighton Twinning Association, it will feature the popular Rhayader Male Voice Choir and guests.

WHIST - At the latest whist drive in Knighton Bowling Club the best lady was Sheila Jones, second Olive Mival and third Olive Griffiths.

Lowest lady was Linda Parker. The best gent was Oliver Griffiths, second Ann Price and thirrd Jean Burgoyne. Lowest gent was Mildred Shepherd. Raffle prize winners were Sue Sutton, Connie Bright, Olive Mival, Olwen Bowen and Oliver Griffiths. Prizes were given by Jean Burgoyne. Shirley Moorhouse was the MC. The next whist drive is on Thursday, March 8, starting at 7.30pm.

COFFEE - At a recent coffee morning in the church hall, £209 was raised for church funds and competition winners were Jim Morris, Michael Conway, Peggy Sexton, Mrs S Davies and Pauline Parker.

YFC - Members of Knighton Young Farmers’ Club have presented £240 raised when they went carol singing at the end of last year and at a Wacky Races event held at Knucklas.

Knighton First Responders and Cancer Research UK each received £120. Members of the club presented the money while they were rehearsing for their pantomime Hebe and the Flame which they put on for the Radnorshire YFC pantomime competition in Llandrindod Wells and again at Knighton Community Centre on February 26.

NEW VICAR - The iduction of Rev Melia Cope new vicar of the parish of East Radnor took place in St Edward’s Church on Friday. The Rt Rev John Davies, Bishop of Swansea and Brecon, officiated. At the event there were over 200 people including Melia’s family and friends, representatives from all the churches in the area, representatives of Knighton Town Council, Knighton Primary School and many other organisations. After the services everyone went to the church hall for refreshments.

PRESIDENT’S NIGHT - Knighton Show and Carnival president Irene Calverley, with the help of her family, friends and committee members put on a great evening at Knighton Community centre which included a threecourse meal followed by dancing to live band Cartesian. The event has raised about £800 for the show committee.

After the meal Irene thanked everyone for their support and sponsorship but carnival secretary Andy Price appealed for more people to join the committee to ensure that the show continues to go on in August every year. The next event for the committee is Knighton’s Got Talent at Knighton Community Centre on April 14, in the Community Centre.
