ORDINATION WEEKEND - This weekend, Richard Priest from Burley Gate, along with several others including Mandy Williams and Joe Kinsella (the curate in Bromyard), will be ordained as a priest in the cathedral. This is a very special weekend for them and they would appreciate support. The Ordination service will be at Hereford Cathedral at 2.30pm on Saturday. On Sunday, Richard will conduct his first Holy Communion at Bishop’s Frome. This will be followed by a celebration bring and share lunch, 12 for 12.30, in Bishops Frome Village Centre.

PARISH COUNCILS - At their September meetings the parish councils for Ocle Pychard and Much Cowarne joined forces to pay tribute to Ocle councillor Sam Meredith, and former Much Cowarne clerk, John Barber, both of whom have died recently. There was then a discussion on ways of celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Anniversary in 2012. A number of suggestions were made, including a beacon, a village fete, litter collecting, a quiz and the purchase of signs to be put up at the entrance to each of the local villages. Discussions are continuing and will be returned to in October.

Councillors then discussed the suggestion that equipment from the Bromyard Resource Centre should be bought as a community project with Stoke Lacy and operated from Burley Gate. It was decided that detailed costings and a business plan would be required before any decision could be taken, and again the matter was adjourned till October.
