Kington Show is set to welcome its first ever royal visitor.

The Duke of Gloucester will be the guest at the show on Saturday, September 10.

It will be the first time in the show’s 130-year history that a member of the royal family has attended the agricultural extravaganza..

“It is very rare for a one-day show to have a royal visit,“ said Kathryn Williams, chairman of the Kington Show.

“We’re delighted the duke is attending and that he recognises the importance of rural agricultural shows like ours and the huge amount of voluntary work which goes into staging it.”

The show, which began in 1881 and moved to the present site at the Ovals at Lyonshall in 2007, is the largest one-day agricultural show in the county.

“Our show is a celebration of farming and rural communities and this year will be bigger and better than we’ve ever done,” added Kathryn.
