A HEREFORDSHIRE business has held its annual charity golf day in aid of Mercia Accident Rescue Service (MARS).

The day hosted by Prometheus Medical raised £4,000 for MARS which provides immediate medical care for the critically ill and injured in Herefordshire and Worcestershire in support of West Midlands Ambulance Service.

All MARS members, including Prometheus Medical’s managing director Dr Malcolm Russell, are volunteers and provide their services free.

This year’s event was held at The Herefordshire Golf Course in Wormsley.

The day was sponsored by numerous companies and individuals and Prometheus said it would like to thank all involved.

MARS intends to put the money raised towards equipping two new MARS practitioners.

From June 2009 to July 2010 MARS attended almost 350 accidents across the two counties. For more on its work and how to help with vital fund-raising, visit marsbasics.org.uk.
