LONGTOWN AND DISTRICT HISTORICAL SOCIETY - The annual general meeting of the society will be held on Monday, at 7.30 in Longtown village hall. The AGM will be followed by Janet and Mark Robinson speaking on The Port of Hereford. In the pre-railway age, the Wye was the only practical way to carry goods to and from Hereford and much of the surrounding district. The talk will discuss the nature of this trade, and how, for a brief time, the name of Hereford appeared in the columns of Lloyds’ Registers.
