OPEN GARDEN - Newton St Margaret's garden at the Grigg's will be open under the National Garden Scheme on June 25, 2pm - 6pm. Admission £3.50 and children free. Homemade cakes and teas available. Over the past nine years the garden has raised in excess of £7,500 for various cancer charities. Come along and make the tenth year a memorable one.

WALK - Newton St Margaret's Women's Guild are holding a walk led by John Biggs on Tuesday. The walk will last about one-and-a-half hours leaving Newton at 5.30pm. No dogs please. The walk will be followed by supper in Newton Church Room and the evening costs £6.

CONCERT - Craswell's Summer Concert takes place on June 25 at 7.30pm in Dore Abbey as part of the festival. It will be a celebration of wind instruments and singers. Tickets cost between £10 and £20 including refreshments in the Abbey gardens. Enquiries to 01981 510332.

SCHOOL NEWS - Longtown Community Primary school hosted the Darrens Dash Hills race and Longtown Castle Canter Fun run on June 12. The children in the garden club are busy keeping the garden looking a picture. The pre-school children are enjoying the wide range of outside equipment and are doing their own gardening.

TAIZE PRAYER - Mid-summer Taize prayer will take place tomorrow (Friday) from 8pm - 9pm at Bryn Barn which is on the Ewyas Harold to Longtown road at the top of the pitch above Longtown. Plenty of parking available. This is a beautiful setting for an hour of music and prayer.
