THE Offa’s Dyke Path is due to hit the silver screen this month after BBC show Countryfile stopped by.

Presenter Julia Bradbury visited the national trail in its 40th anniversary year for an episode scheduled to air on May 29.

Rob Dingle, Powys County Council Offa's Dyke Path National Trail officer, said the crew had a fantastic time filming earlier this month and enjoyed the stunning scenery.

“I hope the coverage will encourage lots of walkers out on to the trail to enjoy and experience what this historically rich and varied landscape has to offer,” he said.

Filming was based around Kington and saw Julia trial a route for the Disabled Ramblers Association from Hergest Croft Gardens out to Hergest Ridge.

She also met various members, association chair Robin Helby and Arthur Lee of Herefordshire Ramblers, who devised the walk.

Archaeologist Ian Bapty also explained the history of King Offa and the Dyke itself from a vantage point on Ruchock Hill before Julia – national president of the Ramblers Assocition – moved on for more filming further north at Chirk Castle.
