SCIENTIFIC - Staunton-on-Wye Primary School is one of nine finalists in this year’s Rolls Royce Science Prize. The school has been awarded £6,000 to carry out a science and technology project that gets pupils involved in making responsible decisions about how science is used in the real world.

All 70 pupils at school have been involved in designing and building a play hut in the grounds of their school. The winner of the prize will be announced at a ceremony in London in October 2011.

AFTER-WEDDING PARTY - Join a fun afternoon at the village hall with tea and cakes from 4pm. There will be a children’s fancy dress competition (under-16s) on the theme of bridesmaids and pageboys. For the grown ups, wear a decorated hat fit for a wedding.

There will be a barbecue (bring your own drink), skittles and party games. Donations of cakes would be gratefully received. To donate a cake or help in any way, call Austin Powles on 01981 500327.
