HEDGING RESULTS - Llangattock-vibon-Avel Ploughing and Agricultural Society held its annual hedging match at New Ordden Farm at Whitecastle with kind permission of Bryan and Lyn Bayliss. In a fiercely competitive match Rita Jones from Brecon claimed champion hedger for the day winning the Nant Perpetual Challenge cup. Results: hedging class 1, Monmouthshire style open: 1 Steve Jones, Newcastle; 2 David Probert, Llanvihangel Crucorney. Class 2 any other style: open 1 Rita Jones, Brecon; class 3 novice and any style :Chris Lewis; class 4 beginners: 1 Haydn Holder; 2 Richard Meyrick, Newcastle; 3 Ian Donald, Monmouth. Fencing: class six open pairs: 1 Dan Greenhill and Ross Francis; 2 Matthew Bayliss and Bryan Bayliss.

GROSMONT GARDENING CLUB - The next meeting is on April 5 on summer pots and baskets. Marion Stainton was the guest speaker at the last meeting and gave a talk on making the most of your vegetable garden providing detailed information on crop rotation, suggestions of suitable combinations of plants and a step-by-step guide to planning a vegetable garden. New members are always welcome at Grosmont Village Hall.
