A LONG-serving dinner lady received a tasty surprise from her school.
Staff and students at Kingstone and Thruxton Primary School thanked Beryl Mitchell for 40 years’ service.
The 70-year-old from Clehonger has only taken one day off sick since appearing behind the dinner counter in 1970.
The mother-of-two has served thousands and also supervises in the playground when she’s not dishing up lunch.
Mrs Mitchell was given an engraved carriage clock, M&S vouchers and a bouquet during an assembly in her honour.
Admin assistant Karen Williams said: “She’s not retiring because it gets her out of the house and she loves working with children.”
