THE founder of a popular Midlands jazz festival wants to strike a similar chord in Bromyard.

The Bromyard Music Festival 2011 will be launched tomorrow (Friday, Nov 12) at the Falcon Hotel.

The new festival is the brainchild of town clerk, Mike Cresswell, and Black Country musician “Sir” Alan Buckley.

The drum fanatic from Walsall has decades of experience having founded the Upton Jazz Festival 25 years ago.

The 74-year-old has similar hopes for Bromyard and has provided funding for the August 19-21 event at the Falcon Hotel.

“I want this festival to be another Upton and once you’ve got started people do come back,” said Mr Buckley.

“It’s for music fans and local people, but it’s also good for local businesses because it attracts people to Bromyard.”

Gypsy music specialist Ben Holder will perform his “Djongology” set following the 7pm event, which is free to attend.

“Sir” Alan and pianist, Carl Sinclair, will appear at the venue the following weekend, while the former will also perform after the Christmas lights switch-on. For more details contact the Falcon on 01885 483034.
