PLANS to route a national cycleway through the north of the county are being backed by councillors.
Bromyard Town Council has welcomed a plan to convert a disused railway from Worcester to Wales into a cycle route.
Most of the route would follow the course of former lines between Bransford, Leominster and Kington into mid-Wales. Bromyard would lie at the centre of the route, with country lanes replacing sections of the line now built upon.
Mayor and keen cyclist Councillor Jamie Jacobsen recommended the project to councillors. He said it could boost the local economy through recreation and tourism.
Members agreed to approach Herefordshire Council and transport charity Sustrans, which has created similar routes.
