THREE Hereford dinner ladies have cooked up a high-flying challenge to help a former colleague and her disabled son.

Katie Farr, 34, Lisa Hibbard, 33, and Dawn Morris, 45, are hoping to dish up some dough for their previous kitchen manager Jo Lofting, who left her post at Whitecross High School earlier this year to care full time for Jack, 14.

Together, they plan to boost the coffers of a special trust fund – that was set up after Jack suffered a serious bout of meningococcal meningitis and septicaemia aged 13 months – with a tandem parachute jump.

Katie said: “At least with this money she could take him on holiday somewhere. I just want to try to raise awareness so she can try to get more help.”

The four women worked in the kitchen together for three years before Jack’s needs became too great for Jo to continue and she had to start caring for him round the clock.

Katie, Lisa and Dawn have taken part in various fund-raisers before, but none of them have tried anything on this scale.

All three must raise at least £400 each before they jump at Whitchurch in Shropshire on August 7, but together they hope to raise much more.
