CRITICALLY acclaimed outdoor theatre company The Pantaloons return to the National Trust’s Croft Castle on Friday, July 16, for a night of open-air Shakespeare mayhem, with their hilarious, original and fast-paced production of Much Ado About Nothing.
With a cast of just five actors, this production uses audience interaction, contemporary references, slapstick and original live music all nestled comfortably within the verse. By making the clowns an integral part of the show, The Pantaloons bring a genuinely traditional element back to Shakespeare’s work, making it accessible to people of all ages without dumbing down.
“Our style is accessible to everyone: from little children who enjoy the bright colours and puppets to die-hard Shakespeare fans,” says Caitlin Storey who has toured with the company since it was founded.
Audience members are encouraged to bring a picnic and something to sit on and to dress for the weather.
