OPEN GARDEN - The National Gardens Scheme has invited The Bell at Skenfrith to open its organic kitchen garden (fully accredited by the Soil Association) to the public on Sunday.

Gardener Michele Civil will be talking about how the garden started and how she manages to grow good looking and tasty organic vegetables and fruit to meet the demands of head chef Rupert Taylor in The Bell’s restaurant.

PRODUCE MARKET - Skenfrith Village Hall holds its next produce market on Saturday from 10am to 1pm.

Entry is free for buyers and refreshments are available at this market held every second Saturday in the month.

FUN DAY AND FESTIVAL OF REAL ALE - Skenfrith will be holding its annual funday on July 17, at its medieval Castle, in St Bridget's Church and around the village from noon until 9pm, with profits supporting the local village hall and community. The event includes a festival of real ale, classic car show, military vehicle exhibition, the Sealed Knot and falconry displays.

Food and refreshments will be available all day, including pig roast, barbecue, local beer and cider. There will be music and entertainment for all the family including the Widders Morris Dancers, a pet show and the famous duck egg race on the River Monnow.
