Ledbury Poetry Festival sees the launch of "Orchard Days" a seasonal collection of poems written by Charles Bennett. Charles spent time every month for a year in this hidden rural gem capturing the essence of The Orchard. Richard Crompton's thoughtful photographs sensitively illustrate each month's poems and Sir Ian McKellen was moved to comment that "The verses and photos show that Dragon Orchard is a magical place, whatever the weather or season". There will be a guided poetry walk around Dragon Orchard, on Wednesday, July 7 from 10.30am - 2.15am Full festival details can be found at poetry-festival.com
Meanwhile local author Dr David Walter's signed book of funny and astringent poems 'Vitriolic Verse' is on sale at Three Counties Bookshop, Ledbury, to coincide with Ledbury Poetry Festival. His poem 'Death by Call Centre' was chosen from over 3000 poems as a Forward Press Finalist for the Poetry Rivals Grand Slam, on April 3, 2010.
