LONG-serving duo Tony James and Jamie Pitman head a three-man clear-out at Hereford United.

Striker Guy Ipoua, scorer of two crucial goals in United's Conference play-off triumph, is also on his way out as manager Graham Turner builds his squad for League Two.

But defender Dean Beckwith has signed a new one-year contract.

Conference newcomers Weymouth swooped to capture Welsh non-league international James with a one-year deal. The 29-year-old was the Bulls' longest-serving player following his move from West Brom in May 1998.

But the Cardiff-born defender, who made more than 250 United appearances, lost his place to Beckwith and Tamika Mkandawire following an injury-blighted season.

Pitman, 30, with over 150 United games to his name, was the only current squad member to play for the Bulls in the League, back in 1997.

Turner admits that both Pitman and James were great servants to the club.

"I've got to pay tribute to them for their contribution to the club over a period of time," said Turner. "But things move on and it will be a fresh challenge for them."
