DARTS supremo Terry Jenkins eased to victory in the Antwerp Open for the second successive year last weekend.

The Ledbury-based world number 14 overcame Mikel van Maastricht in the final 12 months ago, and came out on top of almost 700 entrants to take first prize this time around.

Jenkins defeated Steve Maish 3-0 in the final of this Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) tournament.

As winner, Jenkins picked up the 2,500 euros first prize and five ranking points to boost his aim to be in the world top 12 by mid-June, which would guarantee him a place in the televised Las Vegas Desert Classic in late June.

Jenkins said: "It was a brilliant final, we were regularly doing 12 or 13 dart games. In one game I was on a double after nine darts but did not get another throw."

In an earlier round, Jenkins was 2-all and playing the deciding game when his opponent got onto a double, but he hit a 160 out to win it and go on to take the match.

He said: "I am playing really well at the moment and am confident that I can get into the world's top 12."

Jenkins also won the Antwerp mixed pairs with Rachel Dickson.

He heads for the Holland Open next weekend before playing in Montreal, Canada, and then the World Series of Darts in Connecticut, USA, in May.
