SUTTON United enhanced their position at the top of the Hereford Times Herefordshire League Premier Division with a 2-0 win at struggling Kington Town Reserves last Saturday.

Sutton were rarely troubled by the youthful home side and, but from some over-elaboration in their build-up play, might well have won by a more convincing margin.

The Kington goalkeeper, who had plenty of work to do during the match, also excelled to keep the score down.

Sutton's opening goal came from Daffyd Roberts in the first half and the title-hopefuls added a second after the break thanks to Leon Cooke's unstoppable shot.

Woofferton's outside hopes of snatching the title all but disappeared when they suffered a surprise 3-1 defeat at struggling Pegasus.

The visitors took an early lead, however, when the Pegasus goalkeeper spilled the ball as he fell awkwardly following a fine catch and allowed a Woofferton forward an easy tap-in.

But after that Pegasus went on to dominate the remainder of the game and drew level when Kit Williams broke into the area to smash a shot high into the net.

Woofferton goalkeeper Dave Cooper kept his side level at the interval with a fine save but Pegasus took just a few minutes to move in front when Richie Davies forced the ball over the line following a corner.

A fine team performance, in which Neal Hotchkiss, Neil Alden, Liam Bevan, Sean Goggins and Ben Archer excelled, was topped off when Bevan's free-kick rebounded to man-of-the-match Daniel Sobocinski who rifled the ball home.

Previously, Pegasus went down 2-1 at home to local rivals Westfields.

James Clyde put Westfields ahead only for Pegasus to draw level on the stroke of half-time.

In the second half a superb solo goal from Matt Aubrey took the points for Westfields.

Jason Evans hammered a hat-trick as Leominster Town turned in one of their best displays of recent weeks to win 5-0 at Weston.

Evans opened the scoring after 10 minutes when he cracked home a cross from Mira Mikusinec.

After Weston had missed a couple of good opportunities to level the scores, Evans added his second just before the interval following some good work by Martin Kalista.

Mikusinec raced through, rounded the goalkeeper and notched the third at the start of the second period.

Then, after a lull in the scoring, Evans set up substitute Ryan Bufton to score the fourth 10 minutes from the end.

Late in proceedings, Evans completed his hat-trick with a neat lob over the Weston goalkeeper.

Hinton rounded off their season with a 3-3 draw at Ledbury Town Reserves, the ninth time that the city side have shared the honours in their 24 league matches this season.

Hinton made a slow start and allowed Ledbury to race into a two-goal lead with just 10 minutes played.

But the city side gradually worked their way into the game and Ian Morris reduced arrears when he shot home from the edge of the area just before the interval.

On the hour, Chris James pulled Hinton level, only for a mistake by visiting goalkeeper Danny Gagg, who was outjumped by a home forward on the goalline, to allow Ledbury to regain the lead.

With time running out and a win destined for the home side, Andy Strelczenie grabbed a point for Hinton when he lobbed the ball over the home goalkeeper.
