WESTFIELDS have a great chance to improve their position near the foot of the Harvey World Travel Midland Alliance table when they have two home games in the next three games.

The city side, who only picked up one point from their two games over the Easter weekend, are at home to Studley tonight (Thursday) and then entertain Causeway United, who are just one place above them in the table, on Saturday.

Last Saturday, Westfields produced a hard-working display to earn a 0-0 home draw with Oldbury United.

After a tight first half, the game opened up after the interval with Mark Davis and Scott Jackson going close for Westfields and home goalkeeper Jon Pugh producing a flying save to deny Lee Booth.

Westfields had a let-off in the 88th minute when Booth's lob beat Pugh only for Jon Hill to get back to head the ball off the line. Westfields themselves then nearly snatched the win in injury time when Matt Beale's strike from the edge of the area flashed inches wide of an upright.

Midfielder Mark Hibbard had a day he will want to forget on Monday as Westfields went down 3-0 at Leamington.

Hibbard missed a 35th-minute penalty and then put through his own goal 10 minutes from time to ensure that the points went to the home side.

Leamington took the lead against the run of play on 30 minutes with a cracking drive from Leon Morgan before Hibbard shot weakly straight at the home goalkeeper from the penalty spot after Mark Davis had been fouled.

Jody McKay made Westfields pay when he capitalised on some sloppy defending to extend the home side's lead just before the interval.

Good work by defensive duo Alec Winstone and Hill then kept Leamington at bay until the unfortunate Hibbard headed a cross past his own goalkeeper Rory Hollingshead in the 80th minute.
