Birmingham Diamonds 0 Pegasus Ladies 8

PEGASUS clinched the West Midlands Regional Women's League Division 1 South title and secured promotion to the Premier Division with a convincing success against their Birmingham rivals.

The city side went into the game needing just a point to clinch top spot after goals from Etty Greenhouse and Simone Quinn gave them a 2-1 win over second-placed Copsewood Coventry the previous Thursday.

And Pegasus were soon on their way when Lucy Blandford fired home the first with a left-foot shot on 12 minutes, followed by goals from Quinn and Greenhouse before the interval.

Skipper Julie Nicholas extended the lead with a diving header from Greenhouse's cross at the start of the second period and Karen Hackley, Blandford and Quinn put Pegasus well in control.

The final goal came from an excellent free-kick from 25 yards by Greenhouse which flew into the top left-hand corner of the net and giving the Diamonds goalkeeper no chance.
